Seniors- Time for Vaccines

Seniors, Take A Moment… For Vaccines : Shots – Health Blog : NPR.
I have always thought that once you reach a certain age, you no longer need vaccinations… only perhaps a flu shot.  I recently had a rather serious infection in my thumb (from of all things a freak tooth pick accident).  I had to have the skin cut out and go on antibiotics.  The ER doc asked when I last had a Tetanus shot (due every 10 years).  I had no idea.  I later called my primary doc and the local health department.  It appears I’m due for one.

Seniors and caregivers, take note that you should check with your primary MD for a list of vaccinations you may need.  This article lists three vaccinations seniors should have:  a yearly flu shot, and a one-time shot for pneumonia and shingles.  See this article for more information.  The CDC (Center for Disease Control) web site is also another great source for information.
